My iPhone gave me a notification the other day that my car was parked at the grocery store when it was I my garage. I’d switch to google maps, but last time I used that it told me to stop in the middle of the freeway because I had arrived at my destination.

I don’t even have waze, I think Maps is just being overly forward. Sometimes it tries to guess where I’m going when I get in the car and it connects to Bluetooth, and tells me how traffic is and gives an ETA for whatever destination it thinks I’m headed to. Kind of handy, also creepy.

It just gives me notifications even though I haven’t tried Maps since I first got an iPhone and it had no transit info for my city. I’ve been using google maps since then but maybe I’ll try Maps again, google can be pretty shit.

I had the same thought when my then new phone a few years back chirped at me about a half hour before it was time to leave work and told me my route was blocked by an accident. it knew I was at work not home, knew when I left everyday, knew my route. too much. I killed that app and so many others. and deeply limited permissions to so many others.

cant stop it all, but I surely dont need to be creeped out by my phone.

At least Bluetooth connects in your car. It usually takes three or four manual attempts before my phone will connect.

I got one of these last week. Except my car was actually thousands of miles away, and Google was instead telling me where the bus station was.

My connects just fine, but the connection sleeps or something such that the first second or two of any turn by turn instruction is cut off while it wakes up. If I want useful directions, I need to have music going in the background so the connection stays active.

They both could be better. But they are free which is nice. If you pay for Garmin you get more.
